As International Women's Day approaches, let's take a moment to honor the fierce and determined women who are leaving their mark in the world of sports. From breaking records to overcoming challenges, these women embody both strength and grace as they strive for excellence.
Can you share your journey in the sport you play and what inspired you to take it up?
Both of my parents were athletes, so it came somehow natural for me to get into sport as well. My parents took me to my first practice when I was 6 years old and since then it was impossible to imagine my life without tennis.
How have you faced and overcome challenges as a woman in your sport?
So far my biggest challenge was balancing my private life and family time and work. As a tennis player I travel most of the year and sometimes it gets very difficult to balance those two things. Luckily I have a huge support from my parents and husband so that makes it much easier.
Which women has been your biggest inspiration and why?
Definitely my mother. She is the strongest woman I know and she always showed me with her example that everything is possible.
What advice would you give to young girls who want to get into sports?
The most important thing is to find something which you really like and enjoy doing. Work hard to be better than you were yesterday but don’t forget to enjoy the process. And always believe in yourself - the results will come then eventually.
